Initial appointment at home
This is the first step to establish an understanding of your issue and collect data to build your personalised recovery plan. Length of assessment will vary on issue.
What to Expect:
Thorough Subjective History: I aim to understand the complete story of your current issue. This includes your pain patterns, injury history, lifestyle, previous treatments, and, most importantly, your goals. I want to know what activities you want to get back to doing.
Clear Objective Measures (Powered by VALD Dynamo Max): To move beyond guesswork, you will be measured using the VALD Dynamo Max system. This technology will provide precise and measurable data on your muscle strength, power, and range of motion (ROM) across the injured and uninjured sides of your body. These objective numbers establish your starting point, pinpoint specific deficits, and allow us to accurately track your progress over time. It can even compare against the normative data to see where you stand amongst others.
Diagnosis and Plan: Based on the subjective history and the objective data, I aim to provide a clear diagnosis, explain the findings, and collaborate with you to create a specific, evidence-based treatment plan.
follow-up appointment at home
Follow-Up Appointments are dedicated to implementing and progressing your personalised treatment plan. These sessions are only available to clients who have completed an Initial Appointment for the current issue.
What to Expect:
Review and Re-Assessment: Together we will start with a brief review of your week, assessing your response to the previous session and checking key pain or functional measures.
Customised Intervention: Your session will be spent treating your present condition using evidence-based techniques. This may include:
Clinical Exercise: Targeted exercises to build strength and restore functional movement.
Manual Therapy: Hands-on techniques to improve mobility and reduce pain in the short-term.
Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) (coming in Dec): A specialised training method used to achieve significant strength gains while minimising joint stress (where appropriate). Read about BFR here or listen to a podcast about it here.
Education & Self-Management: Crucial guidance on how to manage your symptoms, modify activities, and maintain your progress between appointments.
Progression: The core focus of every follow-up is to adapt your plan, ensuring that the exercises and treatment intensity are always optimised to move you closer to your goals.
